The following is a part of a discussion on Facebook... A common misconception is the saying that protein builds muscle and should not be eaten by people who don't workout with weights! THIS CAN NOT BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!! Our bodies are to a large degree made of proteins (and water). Cells die and get replaced by new ones all the time. We need protein to re-build our bodies --- EVERY SECOND! Even if we don't eat protein the body still finds proteins to build new cells... by cannibalizing other cells! So, it only makes sense that we eat enough protein WITH EVERY MEAL (not as large quantities as athletes do). The sad thing is we can store fats in our bodies - we all know that, we can store carbohydrates, too, but we can not store proteins.
